🌿 Why We’re Doing This

We love sauna. We love the heat, the people, the connection, and the way it makes life feel just that little bit better. But here’s the thing—we also care about the places we roll our saunas into. The beaches, the bush, the little towns and festivals.
As sauna owners, we know burning wood or running heaters comes with a footprint. Rather than ignoring it, we decided to face it together. This is about balance: warming people, not the planet.
The Green Sauna Project is our way of keeping things honest, showing that we’re conscious of what we use, and giving a little more back than we take. We’re not a big organisation, just a bunch of sauna lovers who reckon it feels better to do the right thing.

🔥 How We Work It Out

When you hop into one of our saunas, you’re not just getting the heat — you’re also part of a bigger idea. Every sauna owner in the Green Sauna Project keeps an eye on their footprint and makes sure to balance it out.
Here’s the simple version:
  • They keep track of how much wood they buy or how much power they use.
  • They figure out the carbon from that.
  • Then they give back — planting trees, supporting local reveg projects, or chipping into carbon programs.
It’s not about perfection, it’s about effort. No one’s breathing down anyone’s neck — it’s a co-op, which means each sauna owner takes responsibility for their own numbers. Together, it adds up to something much bigger.
So when you’re sweating it out, you can feel good knowing the heat you’re enjoying is balanced with care for the planet. 🌿

🌱 Our Mission

The Green Sauna Project exists to keep sauna culture in balance with nature. We’re a group of sauna owners who care about giving back more than we take. By tracking our wood and power use, and offsetting it in simple, honest ways, we’re making sure every sauna session helps the planet as much as it helps people.
